Danrom, part zwei
Another reason why I really, really, really need a vacation: I’m falling ill. I haven’t been sick in 3 years, and that last illness was during the A’ Levels. There’s finals week to go, so… yeah.
Anyway, my Behavioural Neuroscience final exam was today, and I feel a bit annoyed by the whole thing because it ended earlier than my other classes (I STILL HATE YOU, PHILOSOPHY). That was my favourite class, and I mean, the professor was absolutely brilliant. I’d honestly take his class again because he’s just that damn good. Meanwhile, Philosophy is the very last exam of the quarter, and GOOD GOD, I HATE YOU.

Lastly, a couple of fun facts. FFX-2’s Paine is voiced by Gwendoline Yeo. Turns out she’s the niece of Singapore’s Minister of Foreign Affairs George Yeo (if Wikipedia is to be believed). I have lots of TL;DR thoughts on this, not least about the elitist structure of Singapore and how all our ministers seem to be educated abroad, but whatever.

A quickie
First day of school + VotL
I slept during Psychology lecture today. Kinda indicative of how the rest of my quarter’s going to go, ain’it? But hey, most of it wasn’t my fault.
Most of math flew over my head, and I was forced to buy a $100 graphing calculator because of the stupid requirements for the syllabus. I swear school is just another economically driven system designed to suck the crap out of your bank account. I managed to tear by the first exercise without much assistance… so I hope that’s going to continue.
Also, if any of you have any inclination towards Final Fantasy VII at all, OCRemix just released Voices of the Lifestream. It’s a remix of nearly all the songs in the FFVII album. It’s a brilliant listen. Black Wing Metamophosis (Remix of One-Winged Angel) wasn’t my cup of tea, but it definitely grew on me, and it’s one of my favorites in the album (’The Crossroads’ and ‘Deliverance of the Heart’ are absolutely wonderful as well.) And if you’re not interested, just download it for the song titles. They’re so beautifully named. ^^
Classical music
I think a sign that you’re growing old is when you start appreciating classical music. When I was young I couldn’t listen to anything besides Mozart’s Requiem (up till Confutatis Maledictis) and Beethoven’s Moonlight Sonata (only the first movement). Tchaikovsky was too ‘airy’ for me, Bach and Vivaldi too boring and Brahms put me to sleep. Dad always brought me to the Victoria concert hall to listen to the Singapore Symphonic Orchestra play, but I’ll always fall asleep. I went there for the sandwiches.
But after I went to watch ‘The Marriage of Figaro’ when it showed here, I was just blown away. Mom liked it alot too, but Dad (classical freak that he is) and Sis slept halfway through. The singers weren’t that fantastic, but nevertheless, it was just wonderful. I’m throwing Mozart all over the place now. I’m so watching Amadeus again.
Brahms still makes me sleep though.
