Stomach Rumbly

It’s a general feeling of… fatigue, I suppose. I’m so tired to the point where I’m starving myself because I can’t bring myself to go out and get some food. Maybe I’m just being lazy, or maybe it’s really fatigue, but I don’t want to wake up in the mornings because I’m just so tired.

Then again, maybe it’s the lack of food that’s causing this lack of energy, so one vicious cycle there.

Also, I guess I need to find a new tank to heal.

Asides

One day I will learn that the internet is full of idiots.

Also, I can’t wait for the day when LJ comments going “THIS.” goes out of fashion. Last time it was “IAWTC” or something like that, and it was “WORD” before that. Then again, it would probably be replaced with something equally annoying, so no one wins there. I mean, is it really that hard to formulate your own opinion and say something along the lines of “I agree, and…” instead of “^this”? It just… grinds on my nerves.

I haven’t eaten properly in days. Canned spaghetti and frying up an egg are what consists of my diet now.

I hate exams, and I should be studying right now, but I just don’t have the motivation.

After two years living in America, it was only today that I understood how to fill out the USPS pink slip to get them to redeliver (and leave it on my doorstep).

Goodnight.

I wash my hands of thee

DONE, BITCHES! 12 and a half pages!

2 days ahead of schedule too woohoooo

Tomb Raider blurb

Only a couple of days ago I found out that Tomb Raider: Underworld was out, and the new Prince of Persia just got released yesterday or something. I’ve managed to get my hands on Tomb Raider, and I’m playing it out right now.

I think part of Tomb Raider’s appeal to me are the tiny little details you notice. Lara actually has wrinkles on her forehead while she’s deep in thought, there are at least 2 different styles of causal jogging, and the dust that accumulates on her legs while she’s platforming around in some weird Norse ruin. Especially if you’re walking her along the balance beam, you can actually see her tense up as she loses balance.

Also, killing a boss without ever having to fire a single bullet? Best death ever.

I guess it’s the small details that make this game fun for me, but I think they’ve lost that for the big picture. When Lara does the free-motion-grab-wall thing (ala Altair in Assassin’s Creed), it’s jerky and odd-looking, and her legs are all over the place.

If only Eidos fixed the damn camera angles. Legend wasn’t too bad, but this one is just everywhere.

Still, first impressions only. Will add more if I ever have anything else to say.

Intermission

Chugging along on page 9, but this was so hilarious I needed to share. I logged onto my hunter for the first time in weeks, and stupidly enough, I decide it would be a great idea to just run straight out of the camp in Howling Fjord, run around in circles being lost and get hammered on by 7 mobs at once.

(Honestly, my first instinct was to hit the Holy Shock button, but yeah, that went down the drain pretty fast).

Augusta: omg naias don’t die
Naias: i’ve completely forgotten how to play my hunter.
Augusta: okay
Augusta: for one
Augusta: FEIGN
Naias: OH RIGHT
*Is stunned and dies*
Naias: DAMMIT

It’s the small things

So last night I ran with a group for Oculus, and this hunter comes up and says:

“im a girl btw”

This type of thing bothers me a lot, especially when unsolicited and talking to a group of strangers for the first time. What, do you expect people to treat you any differently when you tell them that you’re a girl?

Being asked about your gender and answering it is a completely different thing. I mean seriously, what did you expect to accomplish with this? I got very pissed off when she just stuck it in party chat out of the blue, like being a girl was supposed to excuse her behaviour. The thing is, she was a fairly competent hunter (albeit with low dps), compared to the other guy who threw his pet right in before the tank had time to grab aggro, and the poor pet just tanked one guy for the entire duration of the fight.

I play a fucking hunter too, and I don’t brush off my Leeroy tendencies by saying “lol im a girl”.

I remember this forum post where someone went to title the topic “girl hunter looking for help”, like her gender was supposed to make a difference, or even worse, using her gender to ask for preferential treatment.

Sure, being female is a proud thing to be, but exploiting it to gain the favour of guys or using it to excuse your asshattery is just stupid.

I get very incoherent when I’m angry, so my first response was really “OH GEE, REALLY?! WHAT A SURPRISE”, when I should have said “… so?” in party chat. I still don’t get the point of revealing gender to excuse yourself for being ‘dumb’, especially when unsolicited. It’s just playing into the stereotype that blondes can’t think, or girls are bad at math, or girls can’t play games competently.

Are you asking for guys to hit on you? I remember Jae, Dyan, Roem and I were doing Black Morass, and we were on the DotA Vent channel. Some freaky guy from one of the other channels suddenly pops into ours, introduces himself as someone on the Llane server. We ignore him, and Jae continues to brief Roem about BM.

This guy suddenly goes “wait, you’re all GIRLS? … I mean, you’re all wimmenz or something?” Then he just wouldn’t stop talking - “what instance are you all doing?” “what server are you on?” “what guild are you from?”

I was just angry. I’ve never been a big believer in judging someone on their gender, and it was just short of absolute ridiculousness that this guy was talking to us because we were female.

Sumire and Poly then stepped in and told him to clear out, and the response this guy gave just made me want to punch him in the face.

Asshat: Well, this isn’t YOUR channel.
Sumire: This is our channel, yes. It says Daughters of the Alliance right there.
Asshat: You OWN this server? Is this YOUR Vent? You pay for it?
Sumire: We contribute to the fund, yes.
Asshat: Well, this is Iron Circle’s Vent. I don’t know, I’m going to talk to Iron Circle about you guys.
Sumire: … Daughters of the Alliance and Daughters of the Horde have been using this Vent for over 3 years now.
Asshat: Maybe it won’t be here tomorrow.

The funniest thing was, the person who owned the Vent channel was a member of Iron Circle and a bunch of other guilds, and Vent reflected that, not just DotA and DotH. And here he’s talking like he was ohsospeshul MY VENT NOT YOURS, as if he owned the damn thing.

The most ironic thing was that we pugged the last spot for BM, and it was a he, who was also in Vent. That druid kept his mouth to himself, didn’t treat us any differently than a usual instance run with 4 other people.

I’ve run off topic here. My point was that harassment is still not gone, even from a place of (relative) anonymity. Don’t throw yourself into that by revealing your gender (furthermore, with no Vent to verify) when no one asked for it, nor use it to gain favour from others. You’ll be pissed on by the girls, the smarter guys, and just be harassed by the rest of the gaming population.

Don’t be an idiot.
