Meme!

Commented on Laura’s meme, and she picked out 6 interests for me to elaborate on. ^^ Comment and I’ll do the same!

KOF: Or short for King of Fighters. It’s a 2D fighting game, and I’ve been enthralled with it ever since I was 13. I illegally obtained a copy of Street Fighter and wound up getting KOF instead. It was the hot guys. And more hot guys.

Shalebridge Cradle: This was one of the levels in Thief: Deadly Shadows, and it’s my most favorite scene in my gaming experience, ever. Garrett broke into the abandoned cradle to steal some shit, and the backstory of the Cradle became the focal point of the entire level. It was an orphanage cum asylum, and the orphans were locked in a tower to prevent the inmates from attacking the children. 9 inmates escaped, initiated a riot and burned down the asylum, with the children still locked in the tower. Each inmate had a different profile, and they were so fleshed out and different it was just intoxicating.

London: My favorite city in the entire world. I first visited it when I was 17 (right in the middle of school term, at that, and the teachers gave me a hard time for it). It’s small, completely accessible, and so full of history. Also, West End’s just round the freaking corner. No need to fly to New York and pay $500 a night for a hotel just to tour. I love London. :D

Art: I should edit this to reflect ‘baroque and renaissance art’. :P Not a big fan of modernistic (too abstract) or medieval art (too simplistic). I’ve always loved paintings that depicted myths or romantic landscapes… anything that has some sort of realism, really.

Final Fantasy: Advent Children: The sequel to Final Fantasy VII. I’m not too big a fan of the plot, but the technological achievements they made with this film is absolutely fantastic. The texture on the clothes and water look incredible and realistic.

Matrix Twins: Oh dear oh dear. I would have wanted to erase this from my interests, but they just look too freaking cool everytime I see them. COOL. Sigh. Why did they only have 5 minutes of screen time?

NOW

SPIDERS IN MY APARTMENT.

WILL THESE INSECTS NEVER STOP

The Short Period Pill.

This is possibly the most ridiculous thing I’ve seen.

‘Heart attack, blood clots and stroke’ are not considered ’serious effects’. You’ll be fucking dead.

Who in the right mind would want to shorten their periods to 3 days at the risk of DYING? It’s just 4 fucking more days! Live with it!

Moar Ken goodness.

Ken: I like big cars that feels like a freaking car. I want a car that’s comfortable. I like this car. Do you like this car?
Renee: Yeah, I do.
Ken: Do you like this car, Elaine?
Me: No. I like small cars.
Ken: You LIAR.

Ken (to Renee): I hate your car.
Renee: My car’s FINE.
Ken: Your car sucks. Your air conditioning is broken.
Renee: My A/C works FINE.
Ken: No it doesn’t! When you turn it on it’s like you just turn off the heat. It doesn’t cool at all. It’s like a little, tiny FART.
Renee: My car is PERFECT. PERFECT.

Daddeee!

I find myself consistently living in my father’s shadow.

… I suppose I don’t really mind it very much, but always being introduced to relatives/family friends as ‘the daughter of’ just bothers me sometimes.

I remember my dad gave a bigass conference with highly prominent politicians in Singapore and I was invited to sit through it. I wound up being invited into the VIP room where they all congregated, and nothing can express the amount of awkwardness I felt. I kept introducing myself as my father’s daughter and the reason why I was lounging around in a VIP room where I obviously was not supposed to be in. (And not to mention I wasn’t even dressed for the occasion.)

It’s like my father left an enormous legacy in Columbus. Apparently he used to be the roommate of the present Taiwanese ambassador to the US (Mom didn’t like him very much; something about giving Dad the smaller room but paying the same rent), so now I’m invited to the conference where Mr. Ambassador is going to talk. Every single (Asian) person that resembles my father’s age knows my father or has indirectly heard about him.

From what I heard, he was pretty popular (heck, even Ken knows about Dad’s stay at OSU more than I do), and I am happy for that. He clearly enjoyed it, and I suppose he thought I would do the same as well. I think the difference between us is that I can cope with loneliness far better than he ever did; even he told me so. I would assume that he would have gone out of his way to find some company, hence his popularity. I think he also joined church at one point, just to make new friends.

My daddy is awesome. I love my daddy. :)

Whee!

As most of you know, I RP Calypso on raisethecolors. I don’t know how it popped into my head, but I visualized a scene that - in my mind - was just so incredibly inspiring and beautiful. So I wrote it down. And then finding that it didn’t describe enough and that image was still stuck in my head, I went to sketch it out. It’s still rough, and I’ll definitely add details and the like, but the current pose is exactly how I imagined it to be. And it’s 1 am, and I wanna sleep.

Plus, I needed to test out my new Wacom Intuos 3 anyway. :)

A few observations:

1. I suck at color (LAURAAAAA ;____;)
2. I still can’t get hair, despite 2 years of attempting to paint it. Calypso’s hair is tied up most of the time, so I haven’t gotten any proper reference.
