CAR. ;___;
My father bought a Toyota Harrier 3 weeks ago. Someone keyed it yesterday.
I hope whoever keyed it gets into a car accident.
Stupid fucks.
A few thoughts on the election (or more specifically, the PAP suing the entire SDP).
One has to wonder what Chee Soon Juan is really fighting for. Is he fighting for the people, or is he just rebelling against the government for the sake of it?
The past defamation suits against him, while unjustified (which suit by the PAP isn’t?) really should have taught him a lesson. Why does he still want to cross the line over and over?
The newest threat to him and his party is news all right, but need they paint themselves into the victims of a huge government conspiracy to quash all opposition? The youth know that already, political analysts and graduates all know that. Is there a need to bring that point forth as a main aim to win the election?
Instead of focusing their aims on serving the people like the Worker’s Party, this suit becomes the talk of the town. And the SDP doesn’t fail to soak it up. It’s cheap sensation saved for celebrities like Paris Hilton. Now their aim seems to be: “Vote for us because we rebel against the Government!” They will gain sympathy votes and those who hate the government for the sake of hating them, no questions asked (heck, I’d vote for them). But the majority of Singaporeans who’re self serving and expect the government to do everything for them? The SDP will win none of their votes.
Apologise, don’t apologise, any action’s up to you. But move on. Sensationalism will only buy you popularity for only a short amount of time.
The SDP will lose, nevertheless. It’s a vicious cycle.
No resources because their party is too small? Fine. Your aim is to raise opposition against the government? Fine. But don’t expect to be writing history. The SDP’s actions seem to mimic those protestors in Taiwan. And if they expect to get away with shouting matches in Parliament like that in Taiwan, I think they’re sorely mistaken. The PAP would do another Jeyaratnam and ban his ass out of politics.
One cannot do anything when the other party has the upper hand (by alot). The PAP has resources, has money, has majority in Parliament and thus have support. The PAP right now is synonymous with economic growth and material wealth, and the money loving Singaporeans don’t want that to change at all.
Wait until there’s a severe economic recession. Then things will start to change.
A few things.
1. I hate kids. If it was possible I would kick kids.
2. I hate teenage girls. Those who hog the middle of the road while walking at a painfully slow pace chatting away on their handphones. Those who are so enormously fickle minded that they can’t even decide if they want to take the escalator to the upper floor and just stand right in front of the escalator, blocking everyone who wants to go up. Those who just walk around aimlessly in circles, thinking they’re the cool queens of the world, but all their makeup and skimpy outfits make them look like sluts in the making. Those who cling onto their boyfriends’ arms like parasites and whine incessently about the newest Roxy bag they saw. Those who talk at the top of their voices thinking the entire world needs to hear their ridiculous complaint of some girl who bought the same sweater as her. And then glare at the others who talk as equally loud.
English, please.
When you’re 18, Singaporean, and you can’t even spell ‘frustrating’… I don’t know what’s the little island coming to.
Shut the fuck up about judging me as elitist, or hiding behind your ridiculous excuse of how ‘[I'm] from America’ so I have a more anal grasp of English than most. I came to Singapore when I was 4. And for your information, America’s English sucks. Look at George Bush.
Do you actually take pride in having such an abysmal grasp of the language and thus label all who criticize your (lack of) ability as elitist? You think a lousy command of English lists you as a patriotic Singaporean? I’m not even criticizing the use of Singlish - hell, I use it myself - but the basic grammar, punctuation and spelling you don’t even get right. And you hide behind the all powerful political cover of patriotism.
Here’s the real deal: You suck at English.
The most basic differenciation of when to use ‘is’ and ‘are’ is never noted. Even professionals in the workplace make this mistake. It is a reflection of how badly this society has treated the language, as well as how you percieve the usefulness of verbal and written communication.
So shut the fuck up whenever I’m criticizing someone’s grasp of the language.
